Should I wash my new pocket diapers before using them on my baby?
Since the diapers have been shipped from China, sitting in our inventory and shipped to you, we strongly recommend you wash them at least twice (HOT water cycle with small amount of detergent) before using them for the first time.
Do I need to change my baby more often if I use cloth diapers?
Yes and it's a good thing. Regardless of whether you are using cloth or disposable diapers you should change your baby's diaper every single time he/she is wet to prevent diaper rashes and keep skin healthy. With cloth diapers it is easier to tell when your baby is wet making it easier to know when to change your baby's diaper.
How to store used pocket diapers?
You can store them by using wet pail or dry pail method.
If you choose a wet pail method, remove poop, unfold the diaper, put both cloth diaper cover and insert in a pail and fill it half with water to soak. Also you can put a baking soda to prevent staining if you wish. Make sure this pail is covered to prevent drowning. Water must be changed daily. When you have enough diapers to wash (do not overload your washer), drain the water, put the diapers in a washer.
If you choose a dry pail method, put your used and unfold diapers in a covered pail without water. If the odor occurs you can sprinkle a baking soda on the diapers.
How to wash used pocket diapers?
Do not overload your washer with diapers for best cleaning results. Do not put a lot of detergent. Use ¼ of the recommended amount of detergent. Do not use bleach, fabric softener, fragrance, etc. detergent, as this can irritate the sensitive skin of your little one and reduce the absorbency of your cloth diapers.
Send your diapers through two cycles - a COLD/COLD wash or a COLD rinse or soak, and a WARM/COLD wash.
When washing is finished, your diaper should smell fresh and clean. Wash them again if your diapers do not smell clean or if you can still detect a odor.
How to dry pocket clean diapers?
Dry pocket diapers on tumble dry medium/low heat. You can also hang your diapers to dry to prolong their lifespan especially your diaper covers. Hang them outside in the sun, this will sanitize clean cloth diapers. Once dry, you can fold and pre-stuff your pocket diapers.
